2022
CORE Spongebob joined us in 2022 as P5 (11 year old) kids.
While I did not have slots for them to join our physical classes, I loaned them some Robot Inventor sets and coached them over Zoom for the National Robotics Competition
2023
They next competed at RoboCup Singapore Open using the EV3 platform and MicroPython, coming in 2nd behind another CORE team (no official award as minimum number of teams not met).
2024
Coming back after their PSLE break, the team picked up 3D Design with Autodesk Fusion 360, redesigning their EV3-based robot from the gound up for RCJ Rescue Line at RoboCup Singapore Open.
Incredibly, the team was in 3rd after Day 1 of competition as the youngest team in the U19 field. Heartbreakingly, the LEGO system failed them on Day 2, dropping them out of the standings.
2024
Despite this setback, the team soldiered on, switching to our EVN platform (Arduino) and even more extensive 3D Design for WRO Singapore where they took part in the Future Innovators Junior Category with a disaster recovery robot utilising a 2D LIDAR. Not the biggest fans of presentations, they still came in 3rd, marking their first top 3 finish!
2025
Now a little more experienced, the team doubled down on their EVN approach, becoming the SG Open 2025 Under 19 Champions with an average age of 14 years old. They were so young that they did not meet the minimum age to represent Singapore at RoboCup Internationals (Salvador, Brazil).
2025
Nonetheless, they continued work towards RoboCup Asia Pacific with a new camera-based approach. Still in its infancy, the team managed a Judges’ award for their 6th Placed finish.
